US ambassador discusses election prospects with UML chairman

US ambassador to Nepal Peter W. Bodde met UML chairman Jhana Nath Khanal at the latter’s residence on Monday and exchanged views on the upcoming Constituent Assembly elections.
During the meeting, Khanal made it clear that the elections will be held on November 19 as planned, member of the UML’s international department, Milan Tuladhar said in a press statement.
Khanal also said that after the recent agreement with Front led by Upendra Yadav a positive environment for elections has emerged and that the increase in proportional seats has also assured better representation of women, Dalits and other minorities.
The UML chairman thanked the US government for its continuous support to Nepal’s election process and also hoped that the US team will actively participate in the international independent election observer group.
According to Tuladhar, Bodde conveyed the US government’s appreciation at the progress in the democratic exercise in Nepal. He also praised the works done by Election commission in preparation for the upcoming elections
