No compromise on election date: Khanal

UML chairman Jhala Nath Khanal Monday said there won't be any talks with the disgruntled parties on the election date and government change.

"There won't be any compromise on the election date including the demand for government change. But other issues can be discussed," he said while talking to a group of journalists. Saying that November 19 elections are the only way forward, Khanal said the dissident parties should stop insisting on postponing the elections.Jhala Nath Khanal

Stating that dialogue alone will not resolve the current political crisis, the UML chairman maintained that the ongoing talks should come to a conclusion as early as possible so that the parties could concentrate on the elections. "The elections must take place on November 19. Nobody should dream about postponing them."

Asked about the dispute over the women convention organised by the party's youth wing, the Young Association Nepal (YAN), Khanal said action will be taken against those promoting anarchy and indiscipline in the party.

A faction of YAN headed by its chairman Mahesh Basnet held the convention in Dharan and formed 'Women Youth Force' despite the party chairman's instruction to cancel the meet.

Party general secretary Ishwor Pokharal, secretary Shankar Pokharel and vice chairman Bidhya Bhandari attended the meet challenging Khanal's directive
