Prez tells Dahal to reach deal with dissidents at the earliest
UCPN (Maoist) chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal met President Ram Baran Yadav at Shital Niwas on Wednesday. In the meeting, the Maoist chairman is known to have informed the President about the ongoing talks with the disgruntled parties, claiming that the talks have been positive and that a political understanding is likely to be reached very soon. Similarly, President Yadav emphasied that the parties need to arrive at an understanding at the earliest so as to hold the elections on the stipulated date. He said that the major parties and the government should make maximum efforts to ensure participation of all the parties in the elections. The meeting between the Maoist chairman and the President came ahead of crucial meetings of the high-level political committee with the 33-party alliance, which includes the CPN-Maoist, Ashok Rai's Federal Socialist Party and Upendra Yadav-led eight-party alliance.
