Police start investigation into Adhikari’s murder

Police in Chitwan have started investigation into the murder of Krishna Prasad Adhikari by the Maoists in 2004.

A police team led by DSP Sanjaya Raut has started internal preparations as part of the probe from Wednesday and that other procedures including interrogations would soon begin, local reports quoting the police said.

The Home Ministry had recently ordered the police authorities to start investigation following the National Human Rights Commission’s directive.

Adhikari, who hailed from Fujel of Gorkha, was killed by the Maoists after abduction from Chitwan on June 6, 2004.

His father Nanda Prasad and mother Ganga Maya have been staging indefinite hunger strike since past three weeks. They have been admitted at Bir Hospital, Kathmandu, after their health deteriorated as the result of the hunger strike
