Binay Tamang, a high level leader of Gorkha Janmukti Morcha (GJM), which is for a separate Gorkhaland state in line with the newly carved out Telangana state of India, has been arrested from Kalimpong of Darjeeling district, West Bengal.
According to news reports, Tamang, who is Joint Secretary of GJM, was arrested by West Bengal Police, India along with 40 other activists of GJM on Wednesday night.
Tamang is the top most leader of GJM to be arrested by the West Bengal government.
More than 700 GJM cadres and Gorkhaland campaigners have been arrested so far on various charges, said the news reports from Darjeeling.
